In the Chalet Minouchet sale we are slashing 25% off our list prices for the final 4 weeks of the 2012 winter season which translates into savings of up to £625! If you would like to take advantage of this offer then just book any free week as normal and we will apply the discount before you pay. (Due to the short time before your stay we ask that the full amount is paid within a week of you making the booking.)

Many of our guests have probably come across this site already but if not it is an invaluable source of information concerning driving on the the French motorway network. For years the French were ridiculed for the appalling state of their roads but if you have ventured across the channel recently you will soon realise that it is no longer the case. The French now have a fantastic network of motorways that are fast, efficient, easy to navigate and smooth. The site autoroutes.fr is a great place to plan your journey and brush up on the the rules of the road. It provides realtime traffic information and a route planner that will calculate the total cost of your journey including fuel and tolls. For our guests this is the route you are likely to take when heading out to Chalet Minouchet with the cost of the tolls and rough estimate of fuel.

Winter 2012 is looking good

Apologies if I am stating the obvious and I may be slightly biased, but Morzine is a very beautiful town. Nestled in the French Alps it conforms to so many alpine stereotypes but it is so much more than a ski resort. Something that you notice about the town is that it has a pulse. Being central for many of the local mountain communities the town manages to feel alive all year round unlike so many others. The town looks and feels good whatever the weather. As the year goes by each season presents its own specific beauty – The first flush of colour in the spring, the low hanging rain clouds in the autumn and in summer it looks particularly fetching too. That said, for us at Chalet Minouchet nothing quite matches the beauty of the town when covered by a fresh snowfall. Night or day Morzine looks stunning and this winter we have been spoiled rotten. With more snow falling as I type things are shaping up well for a fantastic season ahead. Those who have stayed at Chalet Minouchet this year will testify to the conditions so why not make 2012 the winter you head for the hills. Fingers crossed for many more seasons like this.

With a full summer season about to get underway it may seem a little early to talk about Winter but we have published our available dates and prices for the up coming season. Bookings are now being taken and have already begun to go. The biggest change is over the festive period. Due to our changeover day falling on both Christmas and New Years day. Now, no one will be in the mood to clear out of the chalet on those days so we have rejigged our dates over this time to make it better for our guests. So, today saw the start of another winter season out in Morzine and with blue skies and fresh snow it couldn’t have been a better start. All of us from Team Minouchet wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We hope that everyone who is staying with us at Chalet Minouchet this season is looking forward to there Alpine getaway. This months (Dec 2010) edition of Fall Line Skiing & Snowboarding features a piece on Morzine, Les Gets and the PDS in their ‘Spots that rock’ section. It’s a good read for any of our guests who haven’t yet experienced what Morzine has to offer. The article covers what to expect from a long weekend in Morzine and is a great all-round review of the resort. The piece has suggestions for the best pistes to hone your skills and some accommodation recommendations, but you don’t want to read that bit as the only place you want to stay is at Chalet Minouchet, yeah? We hope so.

The magazine is available now from all good newsagents and we will also have a copy in the chalet so you can read at your leisure.

On top of this coverage, In the Snow magazine has a feature on 5 reasons to Ski Les Gets. The magazine is available for free in most snowsports shops and online. The article can be read here. Les Gets is just over the mountain from the chalet and is just one of the great ski areas on Morzine’s doorstep.

We are always asked for information about Morzine and the PDS from our guests and whilst we know a fair bit about the town and ski area we are the first to admit that we don’t know everything.

So here are some useful sites that will help plan your holiday:

The Portes du Soleil website has great information about the many resorts that make up the PDS. It also has latest weather, snow forecasts and deals

We do a lot of research of other chalets and other accommodation to help us improve your stay at Chalet Minouchet. In the run up to the Winter season there is a lot of marketing activity going on in the National press and we have been looking at the associated websites for the chalets and apartments advertised. One thing united them all. Be they super cheap or mega expensive every single one, without fail, advertised that they had an iPod dock.

So, not to be outdone or left behind technologically we have added an iPod dock to our facilities. It now has pride of place in the living room next to the TV ready to charge your iPod or iPhone and provide you with musical delight during your stay.

Great though this is, it is not the only thing that will be different for the Winter Season 2010-11. We will be bringing more improvements to the Chalet over the coming weeks and hope that they will make your winter break better than ever.
